January's Space Babe: Dana Gillespie
Our first Space Babe of 2013 is lost world lovely Dana Gillespie, from 1977's The People That Time Forgot. Quite fetching in her plunging doeskin, the British-born cavegirl was an appealing ally and guide to adventurer Patrck Wayne as he searched the dinosaur-infested time-lost land for the wayward Doug McClure.
Born in March of 1949, Gillispie is a popular singer of pop and "risque" blues tunes, and was the original Mary Magdalene in the first London production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar in 1971. Aside from The People That Time Forgot, the shapely young actress' genre credits include a memorable role in Hammer Films' bizarre adventure film, The Lost Continent in 1968.
These days, the multiple-award-winning Gillispie still performs regularly in England and Europe with her London Blues Band. Her personal website can be found HERE.
Thanks for featuring Dana. I keep forgetting to add The Lost Continent to my watch list. I found that image on the far right last year and have been wanting to see the movie since.
ReplyDeleteThe Lost Continent is a weird one!
DeleteYup, it certainly was! I was hoping Dana was going to be in it more.
DeleteDefinitely one of the most memorable 70s cleavages along with Caroline Munroe. I still vividly remember being mesmerized by them as a kid. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the first movie. The second one...not so much. The continent was very different from the first movie and Doug McClure was hardly in it. His appearance reminded me of Heston's brief scenes in Beneath the Planet of the Apes. But Sarah Douglas was in her prime and was looking good in the movie.
ReplyDeleteGillispie was pretty hot in this sequel. They should have called it "The Bra that She Forgot." LOL
I like the second one fine. As for the difference in landscape, they landed on a different part of the continent. After all, a "continent" is a big place! :)
DeleteIn Burroughs' novel, Caprona/Caspak has a wide range of geographical features from jungles to mountains to deserts.
Yes, I love Dana since I saw her in People that Time Forgot whicj I own on DVD. I also have on DVD-R Lost Continent but I wish I had an official copy. Great pics of Dana!
ReplyDeleteAs previously stated, a stupendous cleavage. Only Sybil Danning can give her a run for her money
ReplyDeleteWhich came first: Leela or this lady? They have a very similar look, right down to the blue eyes.
