Gil Gerard & Erin Gray return to BUCK ROGERS


I don't usually post here about new sci-fi projects, but this one is special. Gil Gerard and Erin Gray return to the mythos as the parents of the young, future-hero Buck Rogers in the new, forthcoming webseries by the producers of the Star Trek: New Voyages online adventures.

I really love this clip; it's nice to see Gil and Erin together again, and actually given some real acting to do. I also like that the series looks like it'll be set in the period of the original comic strips. I can't wait.

    That was really terrific; you're entirely right about seeing them doing some real acting together. I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress with the series, and hope you'll be posting more.

    The kid playing young Buck did seem like he had a bit too much make-up, but that's only a very minor quibble. Given the sepia tone, it might even have been intentional.

    Wow, watching the two of them together is a bit like watching William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy together. They fall right into "place" opposite one another, each making the other better.

    It is a nice nostalgia trip to see them. Only thing, as I watched it I kept getting the feeling that Gil and Erin might not have actually been there together but their scenes shot separately and craftily edited. You never really see them all at the same time...

    Yeah, I'll watch it. Gil is great. His charm oozes out and he's very watchable. Erin seems like she could be given more to do (like the 70s show). The lines sure seem hokey. But I like the fact that this Web version is placing the Rogers story in an earlier time period. And the teaser of the spaceship, released months ago, is in the spirit of the strip, don'tcha think?     Thanks for the link. I agree, they both still have it, and the piece looks like it'll be worth it when it comes about.

    And thanks too to Mike Lynch with the teaser showing the ship; I'll never laugh derisively at 40s-inspired spaceship again after seeing that baby do a loop...

    Never ceases to amaze me how some actors have it, and others don't. These two never really got to show what they could do. I hope they get more opportunities as a result.

    This follows more to the original storyline written by Phillip Knowlan. If I remeber right it was titled Armageddon 2419. Anthony "Buck" Rogers was a world war 1 veteran. After the war he came home and worked for the gas company of all things and was sent into the field to investigate strange gasses coming from a cave( in colorado I think, been awhile since I read the book) While doing this an earthquake rocks the cave and causes a colapse, hermetically sealing him in. The cave fills with the unknown gas and he falls into a deep sleep. He reawakens only after another earthquake clears the cave entrance and he steps out into a new world.

    Wow and WOW..!!

    It's about time this actors WORK. I ALWAYS hated how Shatner allowed his cohorts to wallow in token-scene buffoonery, like in ST:V.

    It's made Hollywood believe fine actors like Koenig and Takei can only be seen as cardboard cutouts for so many years, when all they want to do is ACT.
