THE SOUNDS OF OUTERSPACE (1979?) Record Album

Here's a cool oddity that I recently discovered: a sound effects LP from Walt Disney Studios/Disneyland Records featuring laser blasts, explosions, spaceship engines, etc. From the appearance of the Black Hole robots on the cover art, I presume this came out around the time of that movie, but the rest of the album artwork is generic space opera stuff.

If you're interested, you can download the album here or here.

Disclaimer: These links aren't mine, I didn't upload this album, and take no responsibility for it. I'm just posting the links for informational purposes.

  1. OMG!!! We borrowed this from the library when we were kids and sat in a cardboard box pretending to be in a spaceship. :D

  7. Haha, my first "sci-fi playlist" was this, a Star Wars theme album, and QUEENS' Flash Gordon!

  9. Every time I look at this blog, I think that you and I lived the same childhood. All these things that seem pretty obscure now were major landmarks to me growing up.
I had this record and with the help of my little Radio Shack cassette recorder, used it to make many little sci fi audio dramas.
If you listen to it enough, a lot of these sounds will jump out at you while viewing Black Hole.

  11. I still have the original LP in my stuff and I could spend hours listening to it while building spaceships out of Lego. But the collest was when I made a copy on a cassette and brought it into my father's car when my cousin visited. We played the tape in the car while it was parked (of course) pretending to be exploring distant planets. Memories. Sweet memories.

  12. Sorry; it wasn't my file. I was just providing links. If the files have been taken down, there's nothing I can do about it.
