Erin Gray/Wilma Deering Gallery

Don't have time to write up a post right now, so here's a Space Babes "Extra" - a gallery of Buck Rogers publicity stills I've been saving, featuring the delectable Ms. Erin Gray as Earth Defense Directorate Colonel Wilma Deering.

Ms Gray was the Space: 1970 Space Babe for March, 2010. Enjoy!

NOTE: September's Space Babe will be posted shortly!

  3. I remember reading a review of "Buck Rogers" from when it first aired -- the reviewer said something like they were trying to use Erin Grey in spandex costumes to distract from the flimsiness of the stories. I do not mind that distraction AT ALL.

  4. She's at the end of this week's episode of The Guild.

They're about eight minutes, but you could skip to the end. If you don't want to see she's changed, don't go. But you know, she's pretty cool anyway.

Well, it worked! I was duly distracted.

  6. As I imagine most fans know, actress Juanin Clay (WarGames, 1983) was selected to play Wilma Deering in the Buck Rogers series when Gray was uncertain if she could reprise her movie role. Clay later played Maj. Marla Landers in the episode "Vegas in Space." I didn't know this when I first saw the episode, but it explains the odd "switch" where Deering tells Buck that he will be accompanied on the mission by Landers. "Oh, that Maj. Landers!"

  10. My very second crush from the '70s! (The first was Laurette Spang, "Casseiopeia" of Battlestar Galactica.) Erin had that special lustrous quality that still sparkles!

  14. Just watching the gorgeous Erin Gray in an early episode of 'The Fall Guy'. I'd forgotten quite how stunning she was. And probably still is. Unbelievable blue eyes

  16. I used to dream about this woman. I was in my early teens and would go to bed early voluntarily because Erin would be there. She was my earliest TV crush.

  19. Most beautiful women ever seen. And she is still so pretty. With her blue eyes and in blue Spandex she was absolutely adorable. As a child I always wanted to be Wilma. Heartbreaking that Buck brushed her off all the time but guess it was part of the show. Lifetime memories I will never never never forget. I will still watch the series in 30 years. Thanks Erin.

  20. Erin is gorgeous, sure. And the plots were not all that flimsy - compared to, say, 'The New Adventures of Wonder Woman'. But the first season of 'Buck Rogers' did not live up to the promise of the TV Movie pilot. Lynda Carter's high profile 38 inch chest kept Wonder Woman on the air for 3 seasons, but 'Buck Rogers' got downgraded to a kiddie show for Season 2, and out the window went all the sexy costumes and sexy starlets. Shame!
