I remember that figure! I had all the Six Million Dollar Man stuff. The damn skin was a bitch to keep intact, and I ended up using scotch tape to keep the bionics in place.
I never had Steve Austin, but I had Maskatron -- so I could go smack down on my friend's Steve Austin figures. This was one of the best toys in the line. You had three masks: Steve Austin, Oscar and a mask that looked like John Saxon! Plus, he had a bunch of cool attachments that could pop off with the press of a button. My favorite was the suction cup arm, which really held the figure's weight when you stuck him to something. Of course, I always used the claw to grapple with Steve Austin. I've got some good memories of this toy!
I really liked this toy but the little springs quickly wore out and wouldn't hold the arms and legs in place anymore. I returned two of them to the store within a week of each other. Finally, I got a J.J. Armes action figure instead. His prosthetics did a better job of staying attached!http://www.spymall.com/investigators/action_figures.html
And, after you had removed or lost his arms and legs and head, his torso made a cool mini-AT-AT type thing for your Yoda or Snaggletooth figures!Very cool toy.
As much as I love Oscar Goldman and his exploding briefcase there was no cooler figure to me than Maskatron. I just love the whole mask and disquise aspect as much as I loved a similar feature of the Captain Action line. When I taught I would scream 'AHHHHH It's MASKATRON' whenever I looked in a closet and eventually someone asked me who Maskatron was and I could tell them how scared I was of that robot as a kid. If he could impersonate anyone then one of my parents might be Maskatron. Don't tell me you all didn't think the same thing.
The first thing that Maskatron lost was his clothes and shoes. But Maskatron didn't care -- he still had his purple underwear.
Never had Maskatron, only Steve Austin. Though if I had to choose between Maskatron and Bionic Bigfoot I would have gone with Bigfoot.
Am I the only one that put the clothes from the Oscar Goldman figure onto Maskatron, so that he'd look even *more* like Oscar?Had the whole line, with the sole exception of Jamie Somers. For some reason I never got that one.
Parents only ever bought me Steve. Tight asses.
Maskatron was awesome. When I really wanted to give Steve a hard time I'd have him face off against Maskatron and the Alien. Luckily, when it looked like all was lost, Bigfoot would join the fray and help ensure Steve's victory. (Sometimes GI Joe would try and lend a hand but he usually ended up getting dismembered by the Alien)
