My apologies for the lack of posts here over the last couple of weeks. Right about the time that I was able to clear up the technical issues that were affecting the site, my wife and I suffered a personal loss that really knocked me down, emotionally. I simply haven't felt up to doing much of anything for weeks, including blogging about old sci-fi TV shows and movies.
I am starting to get myself together now, and hope to resume regular posting here shortly. Thank you for your patience.
No need to apologize. I read your post over at Atomic Pulp, but thought I'd comment here, since this is the blog that I am familiar with reading.
ReplyDeleteObviously I don't know you personally, but I do wish you well. I know it might be too soon, but perhaps a new family pet is in order? I know there is no magic fix for this, but it was just a thought.
Either way, I look forward to more of your posts here on Space 1970.
I read about your loss on Atomic Pulp. Neither my wife and I are well-disposed towards children, so we have two Chinese Cresteds. There is often a stigma about grieving over the loss of a pet, but some folks don't understand that our animal companions are in actuality members of the family. The best you can do is give your pet the best life possible. Nothing fixes the loss, except for treasuring the memories of an animal companion.
ReplyDeleteChris,
ReplyDeleteSorry about your loss, I wish you and your wife all the best. We will be here when you are ready.

My sincerest condolences on your loss, man. I don't know you at all, and yet I can connect with you and your wife on this aspect alone. I had a loss a couple years ago that even today, I think about and miss my little one tremendously. Just remember the poem of the rainbow bridge and hopefully it will help you get through the day.
ReplyDeletePersonally, as much as I love old sci fi and would love to see more entries from you, something like this takes a toll more than most will comprehend. So take your time.
Hope to see you posting soon!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you do these or not, but I wanted to let people know all about your site. So I am sharing this award with you.
Come by my blog for the image and read what I said about your blog.
Thanks,
Tim
Very sorry to hear the sad news. Losing a pet is indeed losing a member of the family.
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize to us - when you're ready, you'll come back. We'll still be here.
Condolences to you both.
ReplyDeleteI work on the other side of the consulting table, so I see how devastating the loss of a family pet can be, on an all too regular basis.
Give yourself time to grieve and come to terms with things. We will all be here when you feel ready to return.
Been through the loss of several pets over the years, and none of them were easy. As others have said, and as you no doubt know, you'll always have all those treasured memories of every pet's wonderful life with you to carry you through the grief.
ReplyDeleteTake the time you need; we'll be here when you're ready. And remember, many of us know what it's like...
