Here's a 1977 CBS television preview for the revamped, "updated" version of the Lynda Carter superheroine series, The New Adventures Of Wonder Woman. Unless I'm very much mistaken, though (and the way I'm feeling today, it's possible I am), most - or at least many - of those clips are from the previous, World War II-set, ABC incarnation of the show!
Most Beautiful Woman Ever. <3
ReplyDeleteI liked the WW2 incarnation a lot better, though I guess it was more expensive to make. But I remember being very disappointed because I liked the nerdy lady in the WW2 series. Beatrice Colen.
ReplyDeleteShe was playing Etta Candy, a character from the early, 1940's comics. That actress was also a semi-regular on Happy Days during it's first seasons as a car-hop at Arnolds.
DeleteGreat Hera, how I loved this show! I recently realized that technically, the first costume I ever made was a Wonder Woman costume... sort of. I took my light blue strapless one-piece bathing suit and drew all over it with magic markers, made a tiara, bracelets, and belt out of foil and cardboard, and painted a length of clothesline yellow. Not quite sure on footwear; I think it was red rubber rainboots? Just a screaming hot mess, but hey, I was 9 years old. And it didn't get me yelled at like running around outside in my WW Underoos did. ;)

You're correct, Christopher. All of those clips are from the ABC season. In fact, almost all of them are from the pilot TV movie. The only scene that jumped out at me as being from a different episode is the one of her bending the jail cell bars which is from the episode "The Bushwackers."
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool find and unique in that I've never seen a CBS promo before that utilized ABC footage. My guess is that this was probably created right when CBS picked up the show and wanted something to hype it up, but hadn't actually shot anything for the new season yet.
I posted here before, but my comment never showed up. Been having problems, even on no moderated sites.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall deleting/not approving any comments on this post....
