My STARCRASH (1978) Blu-Ray Review

I spent all of last night delving into it's vast trove of treasures, and now I've posted my review of Shout! Factory's new Blu-Ray edition of Starcrash over at my DVD Late Show website.
You may gather that STARCRASH is one of my favorite movies, and you're right. I've always maintained that the only bad movie is one that fails to entertain, and by that criteria, STARCRASH is far from a bad movie. In fact, I find it vastly more pleasurable and rewarding than any of the STAR WARS prequels. If you're willing to give it - and its unique charms - a chance, you may enjoy it, too.
You can find the full review HERE. Enjoy.

  1. Why, hello, Miss Munroe. What? Oh, okay -- Caroline, then. Yes, yes, you do look quite fetching in your costume...yes, I do like it. Say, why don't we -- pardon me? Oh, that's nice of you to say. Perhaps if I were to -- Uh, Caroline? I don't think my wife would like that. Well, yes, she's not here, but I still wouldn't want to ups--

    -- okay maybe just one.

See...*crunch crunch* my wife just doesn't like to kiss me after *crunch* I've had pork rinds.

  2. I will always remember Starcrash for being the first movie I saw on Showtime when my family got cable in 1980 ( it was followed by viewings of Message From Space and Saturn 3 shortly thereafter). Unfortunately, I was only ten at the time, so I couldn't fully appreciate Caroline Munro's (lack of) wardrobe in the movie yet!

  3. I was saddened to see some scenes and lines cut from the final Blu-ray release. Some of the cheesiest dialogue was cut out and that was what made this movie fun and campy.

I always liked hearing Gortner yell "Count Zarth Arn, watch out!"

Roger Corman should have left it alone.

  4. Is there anyway to get the sequel "Escape From Galaxy 3"? I have never seen it.

  5. It's not really a sequel. Luigi Cozzi had nothing to do with Galaxy - it just recycled special effects shots from Starcrash.

I have no idea where -or if- it can be found on video.
