Here are a set of really cool color lobby cards from 1979's epic cinematic space opera, The Black Hole. (Currently my #1 most desired HD Blu-Ray upgrade - get on the ball, Disney!)
I don't care what the critics and fanboys have griped about. I still love this movie, despite the science goofs. And I really do not want to see a remake.
I love the movie, too, although I recognize it has some unevenness to the pacing and tone. However, I'd like to see a remake, just because there is always a chance they could make a good one.
I do wonder if a remake today would dare include the dark and creepy elements of the original (one of it's great successes, in my opinion.) I do think that the original holds up... it has the same strengths and flaws today as it did back then.
While I would try to be open-minded about any remake, I'm much more interested in seeing Disney clean-up and re-master the original film for high definition Blu-Ray.
But - since they've shown so little interest in the title over the years, and the regular DVD release(s) were so shabby, I doubt we'll see any sort of home video upgrade unless there is a remake.
Great pics !
ReplyDeleteMaximillian, still one of the best Sci Fi robot designs ever!

ReplyDeleteThe Cygnus is still up there as one of my favorite ships. Maximillian's still a badass, and the ending still creeps me out.
ReplyDeleteNo remake for me.
This baby is a classic.
No picture of VINCENT... I'm kind of surprised!

At least the US DVD has the Overture on it. I ended up importing it. Ah the joys of being a scifi geek in Australia
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning lobby cards, I wish I had them in my collection.
ReplyDeleteI believe those cards were released in the collectors tin in the mid to late 90s.
