Behind-The-Scenes Pix #48: BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS

From the 1980 Roger Corman-produced Battle Beyond The Stars (probably my favorite of the Star Wars feature film rip-offs): the New World effects crew carefully sets up a shot featuring the intricately-detailed Hesphastus Station miniature.

  1. Ah I remember that one very well! Video games of that time used action shots from this and other Star Wars rip offs in their in between sequences as you went from one level to the next......the quarters I wasted lol

  2. Welcome back Chris! I love almost all behind the scenes shots. This of course is a great one. Battle Beyond the Stars is perhaps Roger Corman's best space opera film. Considering the cast and throw in James Cameron and how could it not be one of my favorites. Thanks for the pic.

  3. As far as Star Wars rip-offs are concerned by favourite is Star Crash, but Battle Beyond the Stars is certainly great fun.

  4. Wow, would you look at that detail on that space ship! The stars in the background look great too! This is a great find.

Since the guy above me (and Christopher) listed their favorite Star Wars rip offs I guess that I will too. Mine is probably Jason of Star Command. yes, I know that it isn't a movie, but Jason is a blatant rip off of Han Solo! And (past space babe) Nicole was VERY easy on the eyes.

It's good to have another post after a long hiatus.
