BUCK ROGERS TV Guide Advertisements

From my own collection, here are some of the ads that NBC whipped up for TV Guide magazine to promote Buck Rogers In The 25th Century back in 1979. I had forgotten that the network had aired a re-edited version of "Plot To Kill A City" as a 90 minute movie (Death Squad 2500) and that "Flight Of The War Witch" was originally broadcast as a two-hour special.

Click on the images above for a larger view. I've got a bunch of other TV Guide ads from the era, as well, and will be posting them here periodically. Enjoy the blast from the past!

  1. Such a great show. I attended a convention and got to listen to Gil Gerard and Erin Gray speak. It's interesting that Erin was a sex symbol for so many young men that came into adolescence and sci-fi fandom at the same time. A very happy coincidence indeed.

  2. Poor Jerry Orbach didn't merit his name in that advertisement on the space rock episode, huh? I recall he was the rock band leader in that one.

  5. I've still got a bunch of GALACTICA/GALACTICA: 1980 ads, and ads for TV movies of the era like THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES, BRAVE NEW WORLD, THE TIME MACHINE, etc. that I'll scan and post here eventually.

Old TV GUIDES are another thing I miss from being a kid.

  6. Just found out about this piece from SOUTH PARK tonight (which shows how little I pay attention to that show these days), but the intro of the episode may be worth a chuckle and is certainly apropos... http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/103801
