Disco Space!

Another disco album inspired by John Williams' Star Wars themes and melodies, this one by "Blue Galaxy & his Orchestra." I'm posting this mostly because I like the album art - and the misspelling of "Star Treck" - or is that how it's spelled in France...?

  1. I've got the Galactic Funk record. I remember going to the roller rink when I was a kid and they would play the disco Star Wars record the strobe lights would go on and the glow in the dark stars on the floor would light up.

  2. Found it on youtube if anyone is curious. At least, I assume this is it... no Star Treck though, must be just the Star Wars themes.

  3. Is it "Thorne Room" or "Thome Room"? Either one works for me.

  4. OMG the R2D2 noise at around 1:45 could of been done better.

    1. No, it is perfect. It's not only an imitation, it is tuned to fit the harmony! R2D2 sings!!!

It got warped sitting in the sun and sounded even funnier.

  6. This is such a rip-off of Meco's Star Wars disco! And it's not just that they sound the same because they're both the Star Wars theme with a disco beat... this even includes stuff that was in Meco's version and not the John Williams score, like the staccato notes at 1:04.

  7. This appears to be one of many records released outside the U.S. which shamelessly copied Meco's hugely popular disco arrangement of the material. A lot of these records even used the same type of imitation Star Wars studio sound effects like you hear in the original Meco version.
