The Cylon Bubble Machine

I have no memory of this product whatsoever. Wow. Love that jingle!

  1. After the parent's groups were through with them, the Cylons had to scrap their dreaded Cylon Death Machine and replace it with the moderately-neato Cylon Bubble Machine.

(note the rare use of video tape instead of film for the commercial--talk about budget constraints!)

  2. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

I *do* remember this product. More accurately, I remember that jingle.

I spent *years* trying to get "Battlestar Galacticaaaaaa.... Cylon Bubble Machine!" out of my head. And now it's back.

    Thanks a lot, Christopher.

  3. With that toy, they pulled out every stop... and then pushed them all right back in again.

  4. I remember other bubble machine toys, but not that one. The short jingle at the end is classic.

  5. Only in the 70's would a a bubble blower get a full-blown commercial and music to go along with it. What cracked me up was the chorus-line that was singing the product name at the end.

  6. I never saw the actual product, but that bit from the commercial, "Battlestar Galactica...Cylon bubble machine," has stuck in my head all this time.

  9. I wonder which happened first: (A) The kids ran out of liquid for the bubbles or (B) They passed out.

  10. As a kid, my initial impression of this toy was like, man, they'll slap the Battlestar Galactica name on ANYTHING, no matter how stupid it is. But I'm kinda suprised we never saw the Cylons actually using something like this to defeat Dr. Zee and the Super Scouts on Galactica 1980.
