THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (1974-78) TV Guide Ads

Just for the heck of it, here's a selection of vintage TV Guide advertisements for ABC's The Six Million Dollar Man that I've collected over the last couple years. It's sort of a "greatest hits" package: the Bionic Woman, the Bionic Bigfoot... and the infamous "Death Probe!" Enjoy!

  1. These advertisements bring back great memories of the '70s. As a boy in the '70s, TV GUIDE was a must read to know all that was going to be on the three networks and several UHF stations. It was a great time to be a kid even with only less than a dozen television channels.

  2. "NOW ON MONDAY!" Never a good sign. Guessing that was the beginning of the end.

  3. I had something of a love-hate relationship with this show.
Sharing Lee's last name I would swear off this show when I got the jokes thrown at me in high school. Then I'd see these ads in TV guide and go back to it.
I never saw the Death Probe ones on the original run- probably ran during one of the "swear off" periods. I did see the bigfoot ones. I loved the rotating cave effect. Incidentally having aliens would always bring me back.
I remember that ad for the 2-hour special and I couldn't wait to see it. (what can I say -teenage nerd boy pass up on Space Babe Lindsay? No Way!)

  4. Is it just me, or does Steve Austin look like Steve Martin in that second photo?

  5. Funny, the "infamous" death probe is one of the episodes I remember most vividly. The others being the two episodes with Stephanie Powers and Sandy Duncan (and incidentally Bigfoot).
